Who this policy is for
This policy describes how Khanade's Atharva Classes ("we", "us") collects and handles your personal data when you use the Atharva Classes e-learning platform — the web site at atharvaclasses.in and the Android mobile app — to enrol in courses and watch recorded video lectures.
It applies to students, parents and guardians who create an account, browse the catalogue, purchase a course or view lessons in the app.
What we collect
Account profile: your full name (first and last), email address, mobile number, date of birth and gender. Mobile number is required because it is your login identity (we authenticate you with an OTP sent to that number). The other fields are collected once during onboarding so we can address you correctly, send receipts, verify age-eligibility for the content, and report aggregate demographics to faculty.
Enrolment and payment records: which batches you have purchased, the amount paid, the Razorpay order and payment ids, and the status of each transaction.
Learning activity: which lessons you have started and finished, your last-watched position in each video, completion percentages, and the time of each session. This powers the "resume where you left off" feature and progress reports.
Device information for notifications: a Firebase Cloud Messaging registration token if you opt in to push notifications, plus the device platform (Android / web). This lets us send batch announcements and lesson-release alerts.
Technical telemetry: server-side request logs (timestamp, route, response code, IP address truncated for diagnostics) retained for thirty days for security and abuse-prevention purposes.
We do NOT collect: biometric data, contacts from your phone, your browsing history outside our own domains, or any data from third-party advertising networks. We do not run ads on this platform.
How we use it
Authenticate you and keep your sessions secure (mobile number and OTP).
Grant access to the batches you have enrolled in, deliver the recorded video lectures, and unlock new lessons on schedule.
Send you account, payment and course communications — receipts, batch announcements, schedule changes — by SMS, email or in-app notification.
Track your study progress so the app can resume playback, mark lessons complete, and let your instructors see batch-level pass rates.
Comply with Indian tax and consumer-protection law (GST, refund records).
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data. We do not profile you for advertising.
Who we share it with
Razorpay Software Pvt. Ltd. — processes your card, UPI and netbanking payments. We never see your full card or UPI credentials; we only receive the order id, amount and payment status.
Vritti Solutions — operates the SMS gateway (qmvritti.ekatm.co.in) that delivers the OTP for sign-in and transactional alerts about your enrolment. Your mobile number is sent to them only at the moment of dispatch.
Google LLC (Firebase Cloud Messaging) — delivers push notifications to your device. Only the FCM registration token is shared; the message body is sent from our servers.
YouTube / Vimeo — hosts the lecture videos. When you play a lesson, the video player loads from the provider's servers and the provider may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy.
Our database is self-hosted on our own server in India. No third-party database-as-a-service provider holds your personal data.
We disclose information to law-enforcement agencies only when compelled by a valid court order under Indian law, and we tell you about the request unless legally prohibited from doing so.
Your rights under the DPDP Act 2023
Access — ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Correction — ask us to correct any inaccurate or incomplete information. You can also edit your name, email, DOB and gender yourself in the app under Account → Profile.
Erasure — ask us to delete your account and the personal data attached to it (subject to the retention rules below).
Grievance — raise a complaint with our grievance officer. If unresolved within thirty days you may escalate to the Data Protection Board of India.
To exercise any of these rights, write to Khanadesatharvaclasses@gmail.com from your registered email address or mobile number. We respond within seven business days.
Retention
Enrolment and payment records: retained for at least eight years to comply with the GST Act and the Companies Act.
Learning activity (watch progress, lesson completion): retained for as long as your account is active, plus thirty days after deletion.
Authentication artefacts (OTP hashes, refresh tokens, login logs): retained for ninety days after each session and then purged.
Profile data (name, email, DOB, gender, mobile): deleted within thirty days of an account-deletion request, except where it is bound to a tax-relevant payment record covered by the eight-year rule above.
Security
All traffic between your device and our servers is encrypted with TLS 1.2 or higher.
Passwords are not used — login is mobile-number plus a six-digit one-time code that expires in five minutes and can be tried at most five times.
Payment card details never touch our servers; they are entered directly into Razorpay's PCI-DSS-compliant checkout.
Database access is restricted to the application server and named administrators; we keep audit logs of administrative actions.
Children
Our courses are open to school-age and college-age students preparing for IIT JEE, NEET and AIIMS. For users under 18, a parent or guardian must create the account and provide the consent contemplated by section 9 of the DPDP Act 2023.
We do not knowingly process personal data of children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has an account with us, write to Khanadesatharvaclasses@gmail.com and we will close the account and erase the data.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time — for example when we add a new feature or change a sub-processor. We will publish the new policy on this page and update the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes will also be notified by in-app banner or email.
